Four Gold-Expeditions of Schule Schloss Salem ended this year’s record season of altogether eight final ventures on the Gold level. All Expeditions were completed by groups from Baden-Württemberg in the Southern Black Forest Wild Country Area and were assessed by Gesa Meyer-Wiefhausen, Jan Spiesberger and Klaus Vogel.

National Director Klaus Vogel explains: “By means of the Expeditions and on the spot enquiries Southern Black Forest developed into the Wild Country Area with the best infrastructure – although it still lacks a base like the Alte Bahnmeisterei”. He added that these experiences represented a very good starting point for the year 2011 in which, mainly because of the International Award Summer School, a similar number of Expeditions would be completed in this region.

The National Award Authority’s “Gold-focus” will however be to accompany the Operating Authorities who either want to renew their Gold-licence or who, for the first time, want to apply for one. In the context of the on the spot Expedition visits (cf. NETZWERK article on this topic) one of the aims will also be to train new Gold Assessors. “With Eifel and Hartz, we’ve also got Wild Country Areas in Northern Germany on our agenda“, Klaus says.
