General

The Award programme is based on the philosophy of Kurt Hahn, who started his work as an educationalist 1920 in Salem, Germany. Born on 5 June 1886 in Berlin, the German Award invites the whole Award family to not just celebrate Hahn’s 125th birthday this year, but also on this occasion to rethink his “Plus est en Vous – There is more in you (than you think)”. This might also be a “bottom-up” contribution to the development of the One Award Alliance strategy.

Germany is therefore inviting all countries, to which this heritage is still important, to reflect on Kurt Hahn and its current significance for the Award programme – and to let us know the outcome of this reflection in written form. We will collect these documents in a booklet and present it at an international event in autumn in Osterburken. The title of the booklet is “Thoughts on Kurt Hahn – from the Award’s point of view”.

Asked are not scientific essays, but thoughts with a clear reference to the theory and practice of the Award programme. The form is open – from an essay to a virtual conversation with our creator to a poem, anything is possible. There is only one soft restriction: follow the famous motto “Less, but better!” More information is to be found below (a link to the project’s website included), in case of any questions e-mail to info@jugendprogramm.de.
